Shell Clad is a product designed for use with exhibition stand shell schemes. Since we launched Shell Clad in October, we have provided the system to a range of customers and most recently Rob Williams Guitars who manufacture very high-end electric guitars.
We were approached by Rob Williams because he was exhibiting at Music Live at the NEC. Rob had an 8M x 2M exhibition shell scheme and in previous years had created his backdrop using literally black coloured cloth and then arranged the guitars in the foreground.
Because Rob wanted to make an impact at the show, we suggested using shell clad fixings that attached onto the pre-existing exhibition shell scheme stand. The Shell Clad fixings would allow printed graphic panels to be applied which would then sit edge to edge to create a continuous graphic wall.
Rather than go for a traditional dark, black background we created a fresh design with echoes of the Apple Ipod design used on the recent TV commercials. We thought that this lighter, fresher looking exhibition stand would provide a backdrop which would be instantly distinguishable from the other displays at the show.
When spending a considerable amount of money on exhibiting at a show, the display material can be the primary difference between attracting visitors or being ignored. One of the first visitors to the Rob Williams stand was the editor from a major guitar magazine who came over as the first port of call because the stand caught his eye and he wanted to know who the stand belonged to!
The following picture shows the neighbouring exhibition stand, you can clearly see the huge difference that the shell clad system makes when compared to displaying posters which frankly are ‘lost’ on the larger exhibition shell scheme panels!
Shell Clad works by creating a stand-off on the pre-existing shell scheme wall. The panels are linked side-by-side using velcro which runs along the long edges of the panels. These panels were produced using a heavyweight polyester and could be transported rolled-up. The whole stand took only 20 minutes to assemble and no tools were required.
